The search for the first-ever Mr Philippines officially began with its inaugural screening held on May 17, 2026 at 38 Valencia Events Place in Quezon City.
The event brought together a diverse group of aspiring candidates—from newcomers and professional models to pageant veterans and provincial titleholders—all hoping to earn a spot in the pioneering batch of the national competition.
Throughout the screening, candidates were given the chance to introduce themselves and show what they bring to the table beyond physical appearance. Confidence, personality, and purpose were put front and center, as organizers emphasized the pageant’s goal of finding ambassadors who can represent tourism, promote goodwill, and support meaningful advocacies.
The selection panel was led by entertainment columnist Gorgy Rula, VP Global Manager Mark Salamat, film director Easy Ferrer, President and CEO Rex Belarmino, and pageant titleholder MJ Macalintal. The screening was handled by Director Julian Muniz.
A total of 22 aspirants attended the first screening:
Wesley R. Francisco, Jacob Aaron Polintan, Genart Q. Nicdo, Ervin Arciaga, Hans Adneke Q. Corden, John Roy Casilao, Fredo Godinez, Enzo Guariña, Angelo Salonga, Zandro Sales, Justine Dimarucot, Henry Tormea, Reymart Enalisan, Nico Valdez, Mark Jacob Oronea, Ronald, Eddie Surlan, Stanly Abiertos, Ozzy Gallardo, Coco Morris, Ryan Cruz, and Polo Red.
The event also drew strong media attention, with around 40 members of the press in attendance, including bloggers, entertainment writers, correspondents, and content creators covering the screening.
Organizers said a second screening will be scheduled soon to accommodate more candidates from provincial auditions, as interest in the competition continues to grow nationwide.
