Manila, Philippines — Excitement filled Cinema 12 of Gateway Cineplex 18 during the grand reveal of the seven official feature film entries for the 2026 Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival. The audience watched in silence as a cinematic teaser — a woman reaching for cocktail cans — signaled the beginning of a new chapter for these exceptional filmmakers, whose long-awaited dream projects are finally coming to life.
Puregold CinePanalo proudly announced its Top 7 official full-length finalists:
🎬 ‘Wantawsan’ – Joseph Abello
🎬 ‘Apol of My Ai’ – Thop Nazareno
🎬 ‘Mono No Aware’ – BC Amparado
🎬 ‘Patay Gutom (Dead Hungry)’ – Carl Papa & Ian Pangilinan
🎬 ‘Beast’ – Lawrence Fajardo
🎬 ‘Stuck On You’ – Mikko Baldoza
🎬 ‘Multwoh (Patay na Patay Sa’yo)’ – Rodina Singh
Each of the seven entries will receive a record-breaking ₱5,000,000 production grant, the largest in Philippine film festival history, and a shot at prestigious award recognitions. Alongside these top-tier productions, twenty short films created by student filmmakers will also premiere — proving that CinePanalo continues to nurture the next generation of Filipino storytellers.
Staying true to the brand’s retail origins, the event highlighted Puregold’s signature flair by unveiling giant, stylized grocery receipts — symbols of support and celebration for the filmmakers’ monumental milestone.
“The upcoming 2026 Puregold CinePanalo is going to be the festival’s biggest installment yet,” says Puregold Senior Marketing Manager Ivy Hayagan-Piedad. “It was only right that we revealed the Top 7 films with a splash of our own.”
Festival Director Chris Cahilig affirms that these stories will stir a range of emotions among moviegoers:
“Puregold CinePanalo is giving its biggest grants to date — largesse that all seven participants truly deserve by showing passion, creativity, and that ‘panalo sa husay’ spirit unique to Filipino filmmakers. These films will make audiences laugh, cry, and everything in between. We can’t wait for everyone to witness what’s ahead.”
Now on its third powerful year, Puregold CinePanalo has evolved into a launchpad for bold and brilliant Filipino filmmakers. Many past entries have gone on to be recognized in international film festivals across Europe, Asia, and Africa — proof of the global potential of local talent.
“Puregold has always believed in the power of supporting and nurturing Filipino artists,” adds Hayagan-Piedad. “Seeing CinePanalo grow and providing opportunities for world-class filmmaking is truly one of our greatest achievements.”
The 2026 Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival will take place next year at Gateway Cineplex 18 and select Ayala Malls nationwide. This milestone project is made possible with supportive partners including Canon Marketing Philippines, CMB Film Services, Terminal Six Post, IM Rentals, Asia Pacific Film Institute, Stage Post Audio and Music Productions Inc., the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), and the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).
