As Boy Abunda’s birthday approaches, ‘CIA with BA’ paid tribute to the King of Talk with a special ‘Ask Boy Abunda’ segment featuring his close friend Mariel Rodriguez-Padilla.

Mariel, one of Tito Boy’s longtime friends and also among the talents he manages, didn’t hold back when she asked one of the most intriguing questions of the night: if there’s one person Boy would want to interview himself, who would it be?

“You have interviewed everyone—presidents, politicians, biggest stars, international stars,” Mariel noted. “[Sino] ‘yung makakapag-‘Boy Abunda’ kay Boy Abunda?”

“That’s a tough question,” Boy replied with a smile. “Ang sagot ay wala, not because I cannot be interviewed but because I love being interviewed by all.”

He went on to explain his deep appreciation for any kind of interview: “I enjoy being interviewed by students who grapple with words.”

“I like being interviewed by seasoned interviewers because I like looking back,” he added. “I like being interviewed by people who are not familiar with my career because I’m able to tell my story.”

“Hindi ako namimili kung sino ang mag-iinterview sa akin because I am so connected to my beginning as an interviewed, that when I was starting as an interviewer, the biggest stars and the biggest personalities in this country allowed me to do interviews with them even if I was no one,” he concluded.

The touching exchange revealed Boy Abunda’s humility and genuine love for conversations — a reflection of why, through decades in the industry, he remains the country’s most respected and beloved King of Talk.

CIA with BA, led by Senator Alan and Pia Cayetano along with Abunda, airs Sundays at 11:00 p.m. on GMA7, with replays on GTV every Saturday at 10:30 p.m.
