Ahon Mahirap, a party-list formed to champion the interests of marginalized Filipinos, announced its key legislative goal: the removal of age limits for employment. Under this proposed law, individuals will no longer face age-based discrimination in the job market, offering equal employment opportunities for all citizens regardless of age. Wilbert Tolentino, the first nominee of the party-list, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “Age should never be a barrier to someone’s right to work and contribute to society. Everyone deserves an opportunity to thrive and succeed.”
Tolentino, a well-known digital influencer, also vowed to bring a new level of transparency to governance if elected. He plans to leverage his social media presence to keep the public informed about the party-list’s projects and initiatives. “Bilang influencer, gagamitin ko ’yong social media para i-vlog lahat ng proyekto ko,” Tolentino said. This commitment to transparency is at the core of Ahon Mahirap’s approach to public service, ensuring that voters can track progress and see tangible results.
Ahon Mahirap’s vision centers on creating a Philippines where every citizen has the opportunity to live with dignity, free from poverty and inequality. “Our goal is to build a society where poverty is a distant memory, and social justice, equity, and compassion drive our collective progress,” Tolentino shared during the event.

Tolentino, who officially filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) on October 1, highlighted his commitment to bringing the advocacies of Ahon Mahirap into the halls of Congress. “I filed my COC to pursue in Congress the advocacies of Ahon Mahirap Partylist,” he stated. These advocacies include creating inclusive opportunities for employment, pushing for social justice reforms, and ensuring that the government remains transparent and accountable to the people.
The grand launching event also underscored the partnership between Ahon Mahirap and Good Governance Pateros, led by Mayor Ike Ponce. This collaboration aims to promote integrity, accountability, and transparency at both the local and national levels. Good Governance Pateros has been a key proponent of ethical leadership in Pateros, and this partnership further strengthens their shared mission of uplifting the lives of Filipinos.
As Ahon Mahirap vies for a party-list seat in the upcoming May 12, 2025, elections, Tolentino and Ponce called on every Filipino to join them in their fight for a more just and equitable Philippines. “This is not just about winning a seat in Congress—it’s about creating real change and offering hope to millions of Filipinos who have been left behind,” Tolentino said in his closing remarks.
