Pinoy Oscars Pursuit offers financial support to Filipino films aiming for the Oscars and other prestigious international awards
QUEZON CITY, Philippines — June 18, 2026 — The Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP) has officially opened submissions for its grants program, Pinoy Oscars Pursuit, designed to support Filipino films seeking recognition at the Academy Awards and other prestigious international honors.
Through the program, the Academy is now accepting submissions and offering financial assistance to Filipino films with strong potential to compete on the global stage. FAP also announced a call for entries for the country’s official nominee for Best International Feature Film at the 99th Academy Awards.
The grants program provides government support not only to the Philippine nominee for Best International Feature, but also to Filipino films vying for nominations in other Oscars categories such as documentary and short films. It likewise extends support to films competing for globally recognized honors including the Golden Globe Awards and the Independent Spirit Awards.
Paolo Villaluna, Director-General of the Film Academy of the Philippines, emphasized that pursuing international recognition is a national investment that aligns with the Academy’s mission of elevating professionalism, strengthening industry infrastructure, and protecting film workers.
“A win for the Philippines is a win for the industry as a whole,” Villaluna said.
He added:
“When a Filipino film earns a place on the world stage, the whole country gains. A nomination or shortlisting draws investment, raises the value of our workers’ labor, and brings the world’s attention to the Philippines as a place to tell stories and to make films.”
Filmmakers seeking consideration as the country’s official entry must submit their entries by July 31, 2026. The Academy will announce its local shortlist in August and reveal the official Philippine entry in early September, coinciding with Philippine Film Industry Month, ahead of the submission deadline set by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) at the end of September.
Submissions will be evaluated by a pre-selection committee based on artistic merit, cultural relevance, and the film’s capacity to mount and sustain an international awards campaign. A National Selection Committee composed of seven Filipino film practitioners, each approved by AMPAS, will select the country’s official nominee.
The initiative builds on the Academy’s continued support for the current campaign season, in which Magellan was named the official Philippine entry for Best International Feature, alongside assistance for Filipino contenders in documentary, short film, and original song categories.
Guidelines, eligibility requirements, deadlines, and the schedule of incentives are detailed in the attachment accompanying this release.
