MANILA — Comedy royalty Ai Ai Delas Alas and Empoy Marquez bring laughter and heart to the big screen as they team up in the upcoming family film “Batang Paco,” opening in cinemas nationwide this February 18.

Produced by MiVida Productions, Inc., “Batang Paco” marks the company’s first theatrical offering and stars Empoy as Paco, a timid tattoo artist whose quiet life is turned upside down when his child is taken. Forced into a dangerous world he never imagined entering, Paco discovers a courage born not of strength, but of love.

Empoy delivers a performance that blends humor with emotional depth, presenting a hero who is far from perfect yet deeply relatable. “Hindi kailangang maging perpekto para maging bayani,” the actor shared. “Kapag pagmamahal na ang nagtutulak sa’yo, may lakas kang hindi mo inaasahan.”

Joining him is Ai Ai Delas Alas, whose role adds warmth, wit, and emotional weight to the story. More than comic relief, the Comedy Queen brings balance and heart to Paco’s journey, with her chemistry with Empoy standing out as one of the film’s highlights. During the film’s press conference, the stars shared that the atmosphere on set was magaan, a camaraderie that translated naturally onscreen.

Set against the raw and colorful backdrop of Metro Manila, “Batang Paco” blends laugh-out-loud moments with suspense and touching family drama. The film also features Mon Confiado, Ynez Veneracion, Chichi Rita, and Cassy Lavarias, with special appearances by Richard Quan, Alma Concepcion, Lara Morena, Natasha Ledesma, Kookoo Gonzales, Gerard Acao, Josh Ivan Morales, Kim Rodriguez, Jovi Vargas, and Quentin Molo.

Directed by Rechie del Carmen and written by Gina Marissa Tagasa, “Batang Paco” reflects MiVida Productions’ vision of bold, emotionally grounded storytelling. For producer Ana Abiera Del Moral, the film defines the company’s voice: “This film is personal, fearless, and full of heart.”

As it gears up for its nationwide release, “Batang Paco” positions itself as a family film that goes beyond laughs—reminding audiences that heroism often begins at home, and that love can turn even the most ordinary person into someone extraordinary.
