The grand premiere night of “Shake, Rattle & Roll: Evil Origins” was nothing short of electrifying as horror fans, media, and A-list celebrities gathered to celebrate what is already being hailed as the biggest horror movie of the year. The event was star-studded, with some of the country’s most popular names lighting up the red carpet—Richard Gutierrez, Ivana Alawi, Dustin Yu, Carla Abellana, and today’s hottest love teams Francine Diaz & Seth Fedelin, JM Ibarra & Fyang Smith—drawing loud cheers from fans who came in full force.

Showing solid family support, the Gutierrez clan was present, led by the ever-glamorous matriarch Annabelle Rama, alongside Ruffa and Raymond Gutierrez, and Richard’s niece Lorin, proudly rallying behind the film. Also in attendance were Regal Entertainment big bosses Ms. Roselle Monteverde and her son Atty. Keith Monteverde-Teo, underscoring the studio’s full commitment to delivering a next-level cinematic horror experience. Media friends and horror enthusiasts packed the venue, united by one goal: to witness the rebirth of an iconic franchise.

A Bold New Era for Shake, Rattle & Roll

For the first time in its long and storied history, Shake, Rattle & Roll presents three fully interconnected stories, forming a cohesive trilogy that spans different timelines and horror genres. The result is a fresh, ambitious take that feels both nostalgic and thrillingly modern.

“1775”, the opening segment, is a chilling period piece set in a Spanish-era nunnery, where nuns struggle to survive an unspoken, creeping evil. Dark, atmospheric, and unsettling, the episode is elevated by a standout performance from Loisa Andalio, who delivers a haunting portrayal that lingers long after the screen fades to black.

The second segment, “2025,” easily emerges as a crowd favorite. Set during a Halloween party in an underground club, the story follows a group of teens trapped with an out-of-control serial killer. Stylish, fast-paced, and unapologetically modern, this chapter feels like a complete film on its own. The camera work is sharp, the music pulsates perfectly with the chaos, and the kills are intense. This is horror made for today’s audience—alive, edgy, and very 2025.

Closing the trilogy is “2050,” an apocalyptic nightmare ruled by monsters. Richard Gutierrez delivers exactly what fans expect—commanding and powerful—but the real revelation here is Dustin Yu, whose performance signals a very promising future. His presence surprises and impresses, making this segment a strong, emotionally charged finale.

A Must-See Big Screen Experience

Warning: This film is bloody, shocking, and not for the faint of heart. But that’s exactly what makes it perfect for the big screen. SRR: Evil Origins is best experienced in a packed cinema with your barkada—where you’ll scream together, laugh together (thanks to scene-stealer Sassa Gurl), gasp together, and maybe even shed a tear together. It’s not just a movie—it’s a shared experience.

“Shake, Rattle & Roll: Evil Origins” opens in cinemas on December 25, 2025, as an official entry to the 51st Metro Manila Film Festival.

The film stars Carla Abellana, Janice de Belen, Loisa Andalio, Francine Diaz, Seth Fedelin, Fyang Smith, JM Ibarra, Richard Gutierrez, Ivana Alawi, Dustin Yu, and Manilyn Reynes.

This Christmas, dare to scream. Dare to watch.

SRR: Evil Origins is horror—reimagined.
