After more than a decade of winning audiences as a leading man, Alden Richards is stepping into bold new territory—this time as both actor and producer—in the upcoming Hollywood action film “Big Tiger.” Marking a major milestone in his career, Richards takes on his first-ever antagonist role, proving his readiness to explore darker, more complex characters on the global stage.

Introduced during a recent media launch at Shangri-La Plaza, the project positions Richards as a central force in the film, portraying the volatile and dangerous John Lynch. For the Kapuso star, playing the villain is not just a role but a long-held ambition finally coming to life.

“This is something I’ve dreamed of for a long time—being the bad guy,” Richards shared. “It’s very different and a bit unsettling because I’m not used to it. But when I saw the teaser, I realized I’m really going to enjoy this journey.”

Richards described the role as a complete transformation, demanding a new level of emotional depth, physical intensity, and discipline—especially as the film dives headfirst into high-octane action sequences and rigorous stunt preparation. Antagonist roles, he noted, offer creative freedom that allows an actor to be unpredictable, eccentric, and emotionally layered.

“There’s so much more to explore. Villains can be volatile and intense, and that makes them exciting to play. I was fortunate to be guided closely by the director and the writer throughout the process,” he said.

Beyond acting, “Big Tiger” also represents a landmark achievement for Richards as a producer. The film is the first international project of Myriad Entertainment, the production company he co-founded with the vision of contributing meaningfully to the industry—both locally and globally.

“When we built Myriad Entertainment, our goal was always to give back,” Richards explained. “This project is our way of showcasing Filipino talent and creating something we can all be proud of. We were able to provide jobs to Filipinos, and hearing positive feedback from our international partners is incredibly fulfilling.”

He added that working alongside an international crew only strengthened his pride in Filipino excellence, noting that members of the US-based team had nothing but praise for the professionalism and skill of the Filipino workforce involved in the production.

Written and directed by seasoned action filmmaker Keoni Waxman, a frequent collaborator of Steven Seagal, “Big Tiger” boasts a formidable international cast. Joining Richards are American actress Katherine McNamara, British actor Luke Goss, Hong Kong-born American actor Byron Mann, and Kapuso star Max Collins.

Co-produced with Lux Angeles Studios, Birns and Sawyer Studios, and Voltage Pictures, the film is already in production and is slated for a worldwide theatrical release in 2026.

With “Big Tiger,” Alden Richards not only reinvents himself as a compelling screen villain but also cements his growing influence behind the scenes—signaling a powerful new chapter in his career, one that bridges Filipino talent with the global film industry.
