In a landscape where longevity is earned, not given, Jake Cuenca stands as proof that passion, discipline, and reinvention can keep an artist not just relevant—but thriving. After nearly two decades in the industry, Jake’s career is hitting a remarkable second wind. Two primetime ABS-CBN series airing simultaneously, a Netflix movie entitled “Delivery Driver”, and a personal journey toward health and grounded mindset—this is Jake Cuenca at his most powerful, most focused, and most fulfilled.
When Jake says he’s grateful to ABS-CBN, you can feel the sincerity.
“I’m so happy with ABS-CBN. Malaki ang tiwala nila sa’kin,” he says. That trust is evident: two primetime dramas airing back-to-back—FPJ’s Batang Quiapo and What Lies Beneath—both entrusted with Jake as a central force.
What’s even more impressive is that both roles demand nuance, intensity, and depth—yet are worlds apart.
“For my characters… Miguelito Guerrero is a psychopath, while Edong is a broken sociopath,” Jake explains. “Yung isa sisigawan ka… yung isa he’ll find a way para makuha ang gusto niya. Nag-torture scene ako in both shows pero makikita mo pa rin ang difference.”
He takes pride in the audience’s reactions—especially for Edong, whose character arc spans ages 14 to 31.
“Nakakatuwa kasi the audience noticed. Makikita mo yung version niya while growing up. Finally makakaganti na si Edong.”
Jake’s commitment to his directors is unwavering.
“Even if it doesn’t make sense to me, susundin ko pa rin ang sinasabi ng director ko. That’s the reason tumagal ang characters ko sa Batang Quiapo. Kahit ayaw ko, I will find a way to make it look cool.”
This humility, this discipline—it sets him apart.
For any actor, juggling two heavily emotional, physically demanding roles at the same time is the very definition of grueling. But Jake seems unfazed.
“It seems difficult na I’m having two series, pero because of my past experience, nabuild ko na yung endurance and stamina. I’m just enjoying it.”
That enjoyment is what fuels him. He doesn’t aim to prove anything anymore—he simply loves the craft.
Behind the scenes, Jake has been taking care of not just his body, but also his mind. Viewers noticed his sharper, more defined look in the latest episodes.
“Hindi ko masabi noon yung reason bakit ako nagbawas ng timbang,” he admits. “But now na umeere na, ito pala yung dahilan behind losing ten pounds—preparation for my role.”
Today, he’s in his best shape—fit, focused, and grounded.
He doesn’t get affected by bashers.
He keeps his mental health clear.
He preserves his energy for things that matter.
His biggest realization?
“Rather than pointing fingers sa mistakes, I’m thinking how I can do it better next time.”
Despite the multiple projects and demanding schedules, Jake’s heart remains with his family. He dreams of spending more time with them, especially with Christmas around the corner.
“Plano ko talagang pumunta abroad to spend Christmas with family,” he shares wistfully. Last time his family went on a trip, he couldn’t join—work got in the way.
Now, he hopes this year is different.
As he approaches his birthday next month, he’s filled with gratitude and a renewed sense of maturity.
“Madalas may nagbabago, pero priorities ko pa rin ang pamilya ko,” he says.
On set and behind the camera, Jake is known for being intensely professional. He studies each character with care, welcomes feedback from directors and network executives, and constantly pushes himself to become better—not for applause, but for the craft.
This is a man in full evolution.
A veteran reinventing himself.
A star shining brighter than ever.
And viewers get the best seat in the house.
