Manila, Philippines – Acclaimed pop balladeer RJ dela Fuente and the country’s top-selling Christian artist Gary Valenciano are set to premiere the official music video for their newest single, “Blessings,” a soul-stirring reinterpretation of Laura Story’s 2011 hit.
The music video, directed by Jason Maximo, will debut on June 25, 2025, on Gary Valenciano’s official YouTube channel.
Visually stripped-down yet emotionally charged, the video offers a fresh perspective on the song’s message — that grace often finds us in life’s most painful and uncertain moments. Drawing from minimalism and chiaroscuro lighting, the production showcases the artists’ heartfelt performance while allowing the song’s message to take center stage.
“A play of lights, a plain set, simple attire… It all kept the message crystal clear,” Valenciano explains.
“We didn’t want it to be too literal — the focus is on the presence of Jesus amid our pain.”
Director Jason Maximo adds that the visual journey starts in a symbolic black void — a metaphor for trials — and slowly moves toward light, illustrating a spiritual awakening.
“RJ stands in cool, calm tones; Gary in vibrant warmth — two seasons, both moving toward hope. The final shift into full brightness is not just about light. It’s about the presence of Jesus overtaking darkness.”
The creative direction was deeply rooted in the artists’ shared faith, with both Maximo and co-director Myles being part of the same church community. The concept was shaped closely with RJ and Gary, ensuring every frame served the spiritual depth of the track.
“This video is special not just because of the song, but because I get to do it with Tito Gary, who’s been a huge inspiration,” RJ shares.
“The lyrics hit so hard — we wanted everything else to step back and let that message shine.”
“Blessings” also marks a defining moment in RJ’s musical journey, showcasing his growth from former American Idol and The Voice Philippines contestant to a confident artist grounded in faith, purpose, and artistry.
The release comes ahead of their much-anticipated return to the theater in “Joseph The Dreamer,” opening this July 11–20 at Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Makati. The themes of the musical — betrayal, waiting, and redemption — strongly mirror the emotional layers found in “Blessings.”
“Joseph’s story didn’t look like a blessing at first,” Gary shares. “But that’s how God often works — blessings come disguised in hardship.”
“Blessings” by RJ dela Fuente and Gary Valenciano is now available on all digital platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment and WATERWALK RECORDS.
Watch the official music video on June 25, 2025, exclusively on Gary Valenciano’s YouTube channel.
