MANILA – In a powerful act of generosity, TV host and businessman Sam Verzosa has auctioned off ten of his most luxurious cars to help finance the construction of a much-needed Dialysis and Diagnostic Center in Sampaloc, Manila. Among the cars was a deeply sentimental piece—a Bentley, the dream car of Verzosa's late father.
Verzosa, who is renowned for his enviable collection of rare and high-end vehicles, revealed that parting with the Bentley was not an easy decision. The car, valued at P20 million, held a special place in his heart. His father, who had long dreamed of owning the luxury vehicle, passed away before the Bentley could arrive. In a touching interview following the auction, Verzosa reflected on the emotional weight of his decision.
“It was the most sentimental car I owned. I kept thinking whether I should hold on to it or sell it, especially since my father’s no longer with us. This was his dream car, something he asked me to buy,” Verzosa said. “But he passed away before it arrived. Letting go wasn’t easy.”
Despite the emotional attachment, Verzosa ultimately chose to sell the Bentley, believing it was what his father would have wanted. His father, who also endured dialysis, had taught him the value of giving back—a lesson that deeply influenced Verzosa’s choice to dedicate the auction proceeds to help those in need.
“I thought about keeping it for sentimental reasons, but I realized my father would be happier knowing it’s helping others. He was the one who taught me how to give, even when we had nothing,” Verzosa shared. “If he knew this would go to dialysis patients, he’d be proud. He’d rather see it benefit more people than just sit in the garage.”
The auction raised a staggering P200 million, which Verzosa will use to build the center. It’s a project that hits close to home for him, not only because of his father’s experience but also due to the overwhelming number of people who constantly reach out for help with medical costs.
“I chose to do this because everywhere I go, even outside Manila, people always whisper the same thing: hospitals for check-ups, dialysis. It’s what people need the most, and they ask for help daily, even through social media. I felt I had to do something,” he explained.
In addition to the Bentley, other luxury and supercars from Verzosa’s stunning collection were sold at the auction. The lineup included Ferraris, Rolls-Royces, McLarens, Maseratis, Audis, BMWs, and Lamborghinis, reflecting the magnitude of Verzosa’s sacrifice for a cause greater than himself.
By transforming his personal passion for luxury cars into a charitable endeavor, Sam Verzosa has not only honored his late father’s memory but also touched the lives of many Filipinos in need. His vision for the Dialysis and Diagnostic Center is a testament to the power of using one’s success to uplift others, proving that sometimes, true luxury lies in the act of giving.
