Asterisk talent Christine Lim, 18, is among the celebrities who've been showing empathy towards their fellow Filipinos, especially the frontliners, through initiating their own donation drives following the enhanced community quarantine on March 17, 2020.
Tine, as how she‘s fondly called by family and friends, put her digital platform into good use by launching 'Lingap-BAYANi,’ a “fundraising activity which gives utmost recognition and support to our BAYANi‘ healthworkers and frontliners in Capas, Tarlac where her father Reynaldo Catacutan was elected town mayor.
Like what the word "Lingap" stands for, Christine wants to extend protective care to her hometown through continuously paying back “our frontliners in giving their utmost effort in maintaining peace and order and of most especially, in protecting and helping us surpass this crisis"
Inspired by her father Mayor Reynaldo who is very dynamic in handling the novel coronavirus or COVID 19 pandemic and the Iockdown. Christine, with her own savings amounting to PHP 200,000 and donations from family and friends, was able to pull off the first wave of her gift giving last April 13.
Aside from food packs, her relief initiative covers PPEs including isolation gowns, N95 and surgical masks, alcohol, shoe covers, Hazmat suits, safety goggles, and surgical gloves.
A day after, the actress-performer appealed for donations on her instagram feed as she launches new donation drive called “Lingap Batang Capaseños,“ saying. “a lot of people expressed their need for milk products for their children. With that I considered this as another opportunity from our Almighty God to help our batang Capasenos in Capas, Tarlac."
Urging everyone to do their part, she said, "Let us be proactive members of our society.”
GIVING BACK. Considering herself very blessed with her family and career ever since. Christine isn’t new to doing donation drives in their town. Her compassion to serve is one trait that she gratefully owes and shares with her father.
Seeing her father‘s proactive leadership in Capas inspired her in so many ways.
“I really admire my Papa, especially in dedicating his life to serve the Capasenos. I learned a lot from him, from having compassion, having intelligent discernment, sacrificing for the betterment of everyone, up to being fair, and many more. But on top of the list what I love about my Papa's leadership is he puts his heart for the service towards his fellowmen. Kapag nilagyan mo kasi ng puso ang serbisyo, hindi ka nalang makikita ng mga Capaseno bilang isang mayor. They will definitely perceive you as their father, a father who is after the betterment of its fellowmen.’
In fact, instead of having a grand celebration on her 15th birthday, she opted to spend the day feeding the aeta families of Sitio Tarukan in her hometown.
Since then, spearheading charity events became a yearly affair, which of course is well supported by her father and the rest of the family,
'My principle in life is that service to humanity is the best work of life. Always remember if we have ways to help, do not think twice or thrice. just wholeheartedly extend our arms and help other people. No matter what age, what socioeconomic status and what situation we are dealing with, always help the needy. It is where we could feel genuine happiness,"
With her wits and undeniable heart for the pour, it wouldn't come as a surprise if she'll pursue a career in politics soon.
MY EXTRAORDINARY. The Tarlac beauty will soon be starring in a TV series titled "My Extraordinary" alongside Enzo Santiago, Darwin Yu, Kamille Filoteo, Karissa Toliongco, EJ Coronal, and Sam Cafranca.
Christine will be playing the role of Abby. Hinting on her character, she said, "Because of Abby‘s past. her family became over protective to the point that she didn‘t enjoy her childhood life.’
Produced by AsterisK Digital Entertainment. "My Extraordinary" will be shown on TV5.
