Filipino Writer-Director Pertee Brinas brings an original story where the main theme isn't just finding romance, or dating. The film is about the other face of romance that molds us into a different person after.

This isn’t the first time Brinas worked in the movies. He started out as a playwright, co-writing the well-received Kung Paano Ako Naging Leading Lady the Musical before transitioning into films. His first original written work was the hit rom-com Always Be My Maybe (Arci Munoz, Gerald Anderson). Also working for Star Cinema before, he had a lot of experience in screenwriting, until he eventually going freelance to write the sci-fi sleeper hit Throwback Today (Carlo Aquino), and the sequel to Ang Kwento Nating Dalawa, Tayo sa Huling Buwan ng Taon (Nicco Manalo, Emmanuelle Vera).

Aside from his written works for the big screen, Direk Pertee is also known for a lot of digital narratives from Globe Studios and Google Philippines. He writes, directs and produces in the fields of digital series, ads, and film.

My Letters To Happy is his directorial debut in full features. In fact, it is a story that took him 3 years to create. It focuses on the relevant topic of mental health, as not many are aware of how serious it is. Dir. Pertee wants this film to not only entertain, but to also raise awareness about mental health to those watching.

In fact, this film is very close to his heart, which is why he took on the challenge of directing it. ” Well, I came up with it because of a personal experience that opened by eyes to the reality that mental health is a serious topic that not much people pay attention to” stated Pertee Brihas. ”very few take it seriously in the Philippines, specifically, So that’s when I thought that; why not tell a story, "not just be a very good story, but one would also awaken people."

MY Letters To Happy follows the no-drama, career-oriented Albert, played by TJ Trinidad, who slaves away at his high-profile job and a sudden turn of events makes him retreat into himself. At his lowest point, he meets Happy, played by Glaiza De Castro, a manic-pixie girl who’s character is always 'larger than life’. Albert starts finds a new purpose in Happy. But just when he finally feels whole again, he learns Happy is battling a mental illness that has a spectrum of ‘good to terrible’ days.

"As much as she wants to stay positive, ” actress Glazia De Castro shared ” May mga episodes siya na hindi niya ma-control, may mga bagay siya na hindi niya kayang ayusin sa sarili niya. " She continued to express her collaborative work with Dir. Brinias on researching more about anxiety and depression to properly convey the message to audiences.

The film is already wrapped up, but has yet to announce a definite showing date. So far its debut is pegged for July 2019. Letters To Happy stars Glaiza De Castro, TJ Trinidad, Ben] Manalo, Teetin Villanueva, and Alyssa Valdez. Melai Etuna produced it with Executive producers Kent Ley Troy C. Cuyco MD and Gabrielle AlvarezCuyco under studios I Am Who I Am Foundation Inc. and Keep Filming.
