Kitang-kita ito sa napaka-init na pagtanggap sa kanya ng taumbayan, saan man siya magpunta. Gayundin, sa mga lumabas na pre-election senatorial surveys ng Pulse Asia at Social Weather Stations (SWS) ay pasok din sa winning circle ang panganay na anak nina Pangulong Mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada at dating Senadora Dra. Loi Estrada.
Sa kanyang mga pagbisita kamakailan sa mga probinsya ng Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija, Iloilo, Negros Occidental, Albay, Tacloban City, Leyte, pawang mga matatamis na ngiti at mahihigpit na yakap ang sumasalubong sa nakababatang Estrada.
”Nakakatuwa at talagang nakakataba ng puso ang ipinapakitang suporta ng taumbayan sa akin at sa pamilya Estrada,” buong pagpapakumbabang pagbabahagi ni Jinggoy.
Makikfta sa opisyal na Facebook account ni Senador Estrada at 53 social media ang mga kuhang larawan na nagpapakita ng kas iya han at pagkasabik ng kanyang mga taga-suporta sa pagdalaw nito sa kanilang probinsya.
Pagpasok sa mga mall ay dinudumog din ang batang Senador upang magpa-picture o makapag-selfie.
”Lubos po ang aking pasasalamat sa taumbayan sa ipinapakita nilang pagmamahal sa akin. Hindi ko po ito makakalimutan," paglalahad niya.
”Asahan po nila, ako'y tinaguriang ’Anak ng Masa’ kaya lahat ng aking magiging panukalang batas ay tiyak na pakikinabangan ng masang Pilipino at ako po ay magsisilbing boses at tinig ng masang Filipino sa Senado,” dagdag ni Jinggoy na siyang pangunahing may-akda at nagtaguyod ng Batas Kasambahay na na gbmigay ng proteksyon laban sa mga pang-aabuso, nagtataas sa buwanang suweldo, at kumikilala sa karapatan ng mga kasambahay.
Si Sen. Estrada ay kumakandidato sa ilalim ng partido na Pwersa ng Masang Filipino (PMP) upang makabalik sa Senado kung saan siya nanungkulan ng dalawang termino. Ang PMP ay ang partido politikal na itinatag ni Mayor Erap Estrada.
Isa rin si Sen. Estrada sa piling senatoriables na ini-endorso ng Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), ang partidong pinangungunahan ni Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.
Jinggoy allergic na sa 'pork'
Kahit na naging malaking benepisyo ang kanyang pork barrel allocation para sa marami, lalo na sa pagbibigay ng ayuda sa mga mahihirap na ka babayan, sinabi ni dating SenadorJinggoy Ejercito Estrada na ayaw na niyang magkaroon ng Priority Development Assistance Fund o PDAF.
Sa kanyang naging panayam sa DZBB kamakailan, tinanong si Sen. Jinggoy kung siya ba ay gagamit muli ng pork barrel sakaling mahalal na senador, "Kahit ideklara pa na legal ng Korte Suprema ang PDAF o pork barrel, ayaw ko na! Minsan, nag-e-endorso Iang ako sa pork barrel, sumabit pa," saad niya.
Matatandaang nagdesisyon ang Korte Suprema na i legal at unconstitutional ang pork barrel noong 2013.
Pagdidiin rin ni Jinggoy, "Malakas ang aking loob na humarap sa tao at tumingin mata sa mata sa inyo at paulit-ulit ko pong sasabihin na wala po kaming kasalanan sa taumbayan. Wala po kaming ninakaw sa kaban ng bayan."
Samantala idiniin niya na sa kanyang dalawang termino sa Senado, hindi siya nagsingit ng pondo sa national budget na siyang naging mainit na isyu ka makailan sa Kongreso, "Sa loob ng 12 taon ko bilang senador, kahit kailan hindi po ako nagkaroon ng congressional insertions,” paglalahad ni Jinggoy.
Isa si Sen. Estrada sa tatlong mambabatas na sadyang ipinakulong ng naka raang administrasyon kaugnay ng tinaguriang "pork barrel scam." Ngunit noong Nobyembre 2017, kinatigan ng Sandiganbayan ang kanyang hiling na makapag-piyansa at makalaya dahil sa kawalan ng matibay na ebidensya Iaban sa kanya.
"Unti-unti na pong napapatunayan na kami po ay walang kasalanan. Nakalaya na si Sen. Bong Revilla at ako ay nagdarasal na balang araw, sa mga susunod na buwan ganoon rin ang magiging hatol sa akin at kay Sen. .luan Ponce Enrile," pagbabahagi ng nakakabatang Estrada.
lbinahagi rin ni Jinggoy na lubos na napakinabangan ng masang Pilipino ang kanyang pork barrel dahil ginamit niya ito upang pondohan ang mga proyektong direktang tutulong sa masang Pilipino gaya ng scholarships para sa mga kabataan at tulong pinansyal para sa mga pasyente at maysakit.
Dagdag pa niJinggoy, binuksan niya ang kanyang opisina sa Iahat upang tumugon sa pangangailangan ng mga mahihirap at magkaloob ngtulong, kahit na ang pangunahing tungkulin niya bilang Senador ay paglikha ng mga batas. "Actually during my stint as a Senator, naglagay po ako sa opisina ko ng free legal assistance para sa ating mga kaba bayang mahihirap na hindi makapag-avail ng legal assistance. Kasi naging mayor ako ng siyam na taon ng San Juan. Kaya halos araw-araw may pila (sa aking opisina). At noong naging senador ako, they expect the same. Hindi nila alam na ang trabaho ko ay gumawa lang ng batas."
SEN. JINGGOY EJERCITO ESTRADA “Anak ng Masa” Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP)
Born on February 17, 1963 in Manila as the eldest son of former President and Manila City Mayor Joseph Estrada and former Senator Dra. Luisa Pimentel Estrada, Senator Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada is not new in the world of public service having dedicated more than twenty-five (25) years of his life in giving service to the public.
He finished his primary and secondary education in the Ateneo de Manila University and earned a degree in AB. Economics from the University of the Philippines. He took up Law for four (4) years at the Lyceum of the Philippines while serving as Vice-Mayor of then Municipality of San Juan at a young age of 25. In 2007 recognizing his academic excellence and socio-civic achievements as public servant, he was bestowed Doctorate in Humanities (Honoris Causa) by the Laguna State University.
In 1992, he became the youngest ever elected-Local Chief Executive in the entire nation. During his tenure, San Juan gained the reputation of being the most progressive and peaceful municipality in the Philippines.
In 1998, he was sworn into office as the Nationai President of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines where he effectively and efficiently harnessed the potential of the local government units as reliable partner of the national government in nation building.
In 2004, he was elected to the Senate with the ardent support of the Filipino masses. During his first term as Senator, he translated his experience and solid background as a local chief executive into becoming one of the most productive iegisiators of the cou ntry. At the age of 44, he assumed as the youngest elected Senate President Pro Tempore.
Sen. Estrada consistently chalked up perfect attendance never absent, never late during the previous Congresses, a rare feat accomplished only by a very few lawmakers in the entire history of Philippine Senate.
Proving himself to be more than a parliamentarian, he opened his office and explored avenues to offer public service to his constituents, like legal counseling, medical subsidies and scholarship grants.
In the May 2010 automated elections, an overwhelming eighteen (18) million Filipino people have once again placed their trust in him and made him one of the topnotchers in the senatorial race.
He became the Chairman of the Committee on Labor, Employment and Human Resources Development that passed at least nine landmark labor legislation with him as principal sponsor. Among these are the Batas Kasambahay (Republic Act 10361), Lifting the Night Work Prohibition for Women (Republic Act 10151), Strengthening the Migrant Workers Act (Republic Act 10022), broader network of Public Employment Service Office or PESO (Republic Act 10691), and laws strengthening the worker’s labor and constitutional rights.
Sen. Estrada's pro-Iabor and pro-OFW advocacy can also be seen through the enactment of laws advancing institutional reforms in the labor front such as creating a new d1arter for the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration or OWWA (Republic Act 10801), rationalizing of composition and functions of the National Labor Relations Commission (Republic Act 9347), strengthening the regulatory functions of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration or POEA (Republic Act 9422), promoting non-Iitigious, inexpensive and expeditious mode of dispute settlement of labor cases by way of conciliation and mediation (Republic Act 10396), and establishing framework for democratic consultation and tripartite participation in policymaking (Republic Act 10395).
In the 16th Congress, he proved to be a prolific lawmaker as he filed more than 600 bills and resolutions, ranking him second (next to Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago) among the 24 senators in terms of most number of legislative measures submitted.
On many occasions, Sen. Estrada took the floor and made his pro-poor, anti-abuse convictions known. He delivered fifty privilege speeches on varied topics such as the constitutionalIy-guaranteed freedom of speech and expression, right to public assembly, unfair labor conditions, illegal trading, among others.
At many times, he stood up for the rights of the oppressed and the exploited. This is clearly manifested when he took the floor to condemn and to urge the chamber to act on the maltreatment of Bonita Baran, a domestic worker who lost her vision after suffering years of cruelty from her female employer, and on the molestation and sexual assault of corrupt embassy and labor officials posted in the Middle East against distressed overseas Filipino workers in their custody.
As an opposition stalwart during the Arroyo presidency, he delivered the traditional “contra-SONA” and unveiled the true state of the nation and the ordeals of the poor and the marginalized. He exposed irregularities and shady deals in the government including the anomalous transaction in the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), corrupt practices of generals and high-ranking uniformed officers within the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and misuse of Metro Manila Film Festival proceeds to the detriment of movie workers’ welfare organization and film development agencies.
Several award-giving bodies took notice and recognized his sterling work as a Senator and a public servant. Sen. Estrada was conferred the Most Outstanding Government Service Award by the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation, Inc. for his “invaluable service to the government and the Filipino people and his untainted record and meaningful projecis throughout his political term.” He was also cited as a Distinguished Alumnus by the University of the Philippines Alumni Association and was included in the roster of “Men Who Matter" in 2012 for his exemplary performance as a legislator and as a public servant. He is also a recipient of Lifetime Achievement Award by Gawad Amerika in 2012 for his “sincere dedication and commitment and being a good example for the Filipino people."
Jinggoy is married to Ma. Presentacion "Precy" Vitug-Ejercito. The couple is blessed with four children, namely, San Juan City Vice Mayor Janella Estrada (now running for City Mayor), Joseph Luis Manuel, Julian Emilio and Julienne Piecious Marie.
