Manila, Philippines — Cineko Productions and Obra Cinema Productions invite moviegoers to take a seat at the table — and maybe a shot or two — in their upcoming comedy-drama The Last Beergin, opening in cinemas nationwide on October 1, 2025.
Directed by Nuel Naval and written by Mel Mendoza-del Rosario, the film gathers a powerhouse ensemble: Zaijian Jaranilla, JC Santos, Pepe Herrera, and Cherry Pie Picache. Even in the trailer, the chemistry is electric, with each actor going head-to-head in scenes that mix sharp humor with raw emotion.
At its core, The Last Beergin follows five strangers who, over a few shared drinks, start pouring something stronger: their secrets, their heartbreak, and their longing to be heard. The story asks the ultimate chaser question — “Sa shot ng buhay, ilan ang kaya mong itagay?” — and serves its answer with equal parts laughter, heartache, and the kind of brutally funny honesty only Filipinos can pull off.
Cherry Pie Picache embraces the film’s spirited theme, laughing off the well-worn saying, “Kapag may alak, may balak.”
“Of course,” Picache said during the press conference. “Hindi naman na tayo mga bata. We all know that. Alcohol makes you bolder, less inhibited, so I think that’s where the saying started and yeah, totoo naman.”
Co-star Zaijian Jaranilla offered a more diplomatic take on the phrase.
“May balak? As in…? Well, it depends, really,” he said with a grin. “Pwedeng may balak pero baka balak lang makipag-usap, makipagtawanan, makabuo ng friendship… so, ako, in that sense, yeah, I agree. Kaya nga importante na kilala mo ang kainuman mo and drink in moderation.”
During the same event, Picache also shared an update on her personal life, revealing she is currently single but remains on good terms with former partner Edu Manzano. The two recently made headlines after being spotted dining together in Marikina.
“After two years and a half, nagkita na kami, okay naman, we’re good friends,” Picache said. “I’m just happy to see him, happy that he’s well. We’re happy for each other.”
With its mix of humor, candor, and emotional punch, The Last Beergin promises to be a cinematic toast to friendship, vulnerability, and the stories we reveal when the glasses start clinking.
Catch The Last Beergin in cinemas nationwide starting October 1, 2025.
