Quezon City, Philippines — The legendary Kamuning Bakery Cafe, an 86-year-old Quezon City institution known for its iconic wood-fired pandesal, proudly marks a major milestone in 2025: the 10th anniversary of its pioneering Pandesal Forum. To celebrate a decade of vibrant dialogue and civic engagement, the non-partisan forum has unveiled a powerful speaker series aimed at inspiring Filipinos through meaningful conversations.

Leading this year’s anniversary lineup is sought-after financial expert Chinkee Tan, who delivered an empowering talk on “Financial Independence, Money Tips, and Success Strategies” on June 14, 2025. Tan, a best-selling author and motivational speaker, shared practical advice on budgeting, saving, investing, and financial discipline. He also highlighted the financial habits of celebrities Aga Muhlach, Richard Gomez, and Coco Martin as examples of responsible money management.

Next in the series is esteemed writer and academic Danton Remoto, who will take the stage on June 21 (Saturday) at 1 PM to discuss “Writing Fiction & How to Get Accepted by a Global Publisher.” Remoto is expected to offer insights into the creative process, global literary standards, and tips for aspiring Filipino authors hoping to break into the international publishing scene.

A Legacy of Open Dialogue and Civic Engagement

Launched in 2015, the Pandesal Forum has evolved into a unique, tertulia-style gathering known for welcoming leaders, newsmakers, and intellectuals across the political and ideological spectrum. The name “Pandesal Forum” was coined by Senator Grace Poe, reflecting its humble yet powerful nature—just like the everyday Filipino breakfast staple.

The forum began with high-profile guests including then-Vice President Jejomar Binay and then-Opposition Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., setting the tone for an inclusive, idea-driven space. Moderated by Wilson Lee Flores, the award-winning writer, entrepreneur, and civic leader behind Kamuning Bakery Cafe, the forum continues to champion respectful, thought-provoking dialogue.

More Than Bread: A Cultural and Civic Landmark

Kamuning Bakery Cafe is more than a heritage bakery—it is now a true cultural and civic landmark. Over the past decade, its Pandesal Forum has grown into one of the Philippines’ most respected platforms for public discourse, embodying the idea that progress is best baked slowly, with care and collaboration.

“For 10 years, the Pandesal Forum has been a space where ideas rise like dough—slow, steady, and transformative,” said Wilson Lee Flores. “We welcome thinkers, doers, and dreamers because progress begins with dialogue.”
