If you’ve been waiting for a Filipino horror film that truly delivers—Untold is it. I had the chance to watch it during a special screening last Tuesday, and trust me when I say: Regal Entertainment is officially back in the horror game. And not just back—they’re reclaiming the throne.
Directed by Derick Cabrido, Untold stars Asia’s Best Actress, Jodi Sta. Maria, in what may be her most powerful and layered performance to date. She plays Vivian Vera, a driven journalist whose ambition takes a dark turn as she uncovers a haunting mystery. But Untold isn’t your usual jump-scare fest. This one sinks its claws into your mind and doesn’t let go until the credits roll.
From the very first scene, the audience was hooked. I heard legit screams and gasps inside the theater—hindi fake, hindi pilit. The film builds tension masterfully, with shocking reveals and spine-chilling moments that leave you breathless. There were times I literally caught myself gripping my seat.
The story is more than just scares—it’s about ambition, betrayal, love, and the chilling consequences of the secrets we keep. Untold dares to explore how far someone will go to reach the top, even if it means dragging others down with her.
And of course, Jodi Sta. Maria absolutely owns this film. Her performance is a masterclass—subtle one moment, explosive the next. She navigates fear, manipulation, heartbreak, and madness with such grace and raw intensity that it’s impossible to look away. Her portrayal of Vivian is proof, once again, why she’s earned the title of Asia’s Best Actress.
Backed by a stellar ensemble cast—Joem Bascon, Juan Karlos Labajo, Kaori Oinuma, Mylene Dizon, Lianne Valentin, Sarah Edwards, and Gloria Diaz—the film thrives on strong performances across the board.
Let’s not forget, Untold is also the final film personally approved by the late Lily Monteverde, making it a fitting tribute to her legacy. Under the leadership of Roselle Teo and her son Kit Teo, Regal Entertainment roars back to life with this one. They reminded us why they are the name in Filipino horror—producers of the iconic Shake, Rattle & Roll series and now, Untold.
Don’t miss this. Untold is more than just a horror film—it’s a cinematic experience that blends story, scares, and standout acting. It’s the kind of film that haunts you even after the lights come back on.
“Untold” opens in theaters nationwide this April 30, 2025. Don’t walk—run to your nearest cinema. You’ll scream, you’ll think, and you’ll never forget it.
