The event gathered industry experts, media personalities, and aspiring artists who are eager to embark on their creative journey. Hosted by VJ Ai Dela Cruz, the launch marked a new era for Star Magic — evolving from a talent workshop into a comprehensive learning institution that nurtures performers across multiple disciplines.
The Star Magic SCPA introduces an expanded curriculum that includes acting, singing, dancing, directing, and character building, complemented by masterclasses taught by some of the industry’s most respected mentors and professionals.
Gracing the event were ABS-CBN TV Production Head Direk Laurenti Dyogi and Star Magic & ABS-CBN Business Unit Head Mr. Raymund Dizon, along with renowned mentors and industry leaders including:
• Mr. HB Benitez III – Kids Acting Coach
• Teacher Alecx Lorica & Teacher Marcel David – Meisner Acting Coaches for teens and adults
• Meann Espinosa – Theater Acting Coach
• Direk Jon Moll – Director of ABS-CBN TV programs
• Mr. Kirby Balagtas – Executive Director, You Me Us MNL
• Mr. Dale Recina – Creative Producer, You Me Us MNL
• Mr. Troi Bautista – Producer & Multimedia Manager, You Me Us MNL
Also present were voice mentors Teacher Julie Anne Reyes, Anna Graham, and Jerwin Nicomedes of BGYO & BINI, alongside the head choreographers of BINI and BGYO: Coach Mickey Perz, Coach Reden Blanquera, Coach Matthew Almodovar, Coach Aennon Tabungar, and Coach Josh Junio.
The launch event featured special performances by Talia Concio, who electrified the crowd with an energetic number, and P-pop boy group BGYO, who performed their latest single Divine. Former Pinoy Big Brother housemates Kai Montinola and Jasmine Scales also took the stage to share how the Star Magic Workshop helped shape their artistic development.
In a discussion on how Star Magic continues to keep its talents relevant, Mr. Raymund Dizon said:
“That’s the advantage of having subject matter experts in the school because they have different points of view na nai-instill sa ating mga star dreamers to keep them relevant.”
Meanwhile, Coach Mickey Perz emphasized the value of nurturing talent:
“In social media, a lot of people have talent, but talent will always bring you to a certain level. Now, how do you nurture that? That’s when you put skill into it.”
He added:
“The way you nurture your talent is to get the right equipment so you can always move on to what is current. You have to understand that if you want to evolve, you have to humble yourself enough to work hard for what you want to achieve.”
Teacher HB Benitez also highlighted what dreamers can expect from SMSCPA’s acting program:
“Acting is more than just memorizing and reciting lines; acting is about truth. It’s about exploring the complexities of the character and delving into the depths of the human experience. That’s why we have expanded our acting courses.”
Voice mentor Teacher Julie Anne Reyes proudly shared that Sofronio Vasquez, champion of The Voice Season 26 US, was a product of Star Magic workshops, having completed five consecutive classes from basic to masterclass level.
Coach HB also mentioned notable Star Magic graduates who began their careers through workshops, including Joshua Garcia, Arjo Atayde, Alora Sasam, and Dimples Romana.
During the event, mentors also introduced the various course offerings, which include:
• Meisner Core Program for acting
• Popshop Workshop for singing and dancing
• Voice Workshop for vocal training
They emphasized the importance of formal training in developing talent, discipline, and professionalism within the entertainment industry.
Onsite enrollment for the workshops will open on March 29 & 30, 2025, and will continue on April 5 & 6, 2025, with limited slots available.
