QUEZON CITY, Philippines – In a powerful display of student initiative, Class 10 - Rodrigues from Ateneo de Manila University Junior High School is spearheading an exciting musical event for a cause. On April 5, these young leaders will host HORIZON – A Fundraising Concert for Hope, as part of the Katipunan Fund Drive (KFD). The event, set to take place at the Ateneo de Manila University covered court, will feature some of the biggest names in Original Pilipino Music (OPM), including Adie, Sunkissed Lola, and Calista.
This remarkable student-led project is dedicated to raising funds for significant charitable endeavors such as disaster relief efforts, Jesuit missions, and the support of partner schools. Inspired by the revolutionary Filipino group Katipunan, this drive embodies the values of unity, generosity, and community service.
The concert boasts an exciting lineup of OPM artists who continue to shape the Filipino music scene. Headlining the event is Adrian Garcia Eugenio, more popularly known as Adie. Signed under Kean Cipriano’s O/C Records, the 24-year-old singer-songwriter has won over audiences with hit songs like Paraluman (2021), Tahanan (2021), and Mahika (2022), all part of his debut album Senaryo (2024).
Joining him is Sunkissed Lola, a rising Filipino rock band best known for their hit single Pasilyo (Aisle). The band comprises Dan Ombao (lead vocals, guitar), Alvin Serito (lead vocals, acoustic guitar), Laura Lacbain (lead vocals), Danj Quimson (bass guitar), Genson Viloria (drums), and Rodnie Resos (keyboards). Their unique sound and heartfelt lyrics have quickly made them fan favorites.
Also taking the stage is the dynamic girl group CALISTA, managed by Merlion Events Production. Consisting of Anne, Dain, Elle, and Denise, the four-member group made their official debut on February 14, 2022, with their single Race Car. Their youthful energy and pop-driven sound add an exciting element to the concert.
What makes HORIZON truly special is that it is entirely planned and executed by students. The event’s organizing team includes:
